Daisha Maria-Breona

Daisha Maria-Breona, a self-taught artist originally from Jersey City, NJ, and now based in Kansas City, MO. Since she began painting in 2012, art has transformed from a hobby into a profound means of expression and healing for her, particularly after overcoming personal challenges. Her academic background, with degrees from Rutgers and Liberty University in Communications and Executive Leadership, informs her work. She passionately emphasizes themes of inclusivity, self-love, mental health, and cultural awareness. Utilizing cardboard as a primary medium, Daisha pays homage to her roots and the origins of hip hop, while also embracing eco-friendly practices. This innovative choice allows her to transform something simple into extraordinary, beautiful pieces that are both unique and sustainable. Each collection is inspired by poetry, music, and cultural references, aiming to provoke thought and foster community awareness.
