My Story

Ms. Tonya Ward, is known as Conga Mama "The girl of a thousand faces” she is an animated storyteller, performing artist, singer, drummer, percussionist and she plays the clarinet.

Dr. Webb & Conga Mama Show, Spongecake & The Fluff Ramblers, 
Luther James Blues Band and so many more musical performances!  

Tonya’s family hails from the island of Aruba and she is the founder of a  non profit where they advocate for justice for all.  She has 3 sons, 2 grandsons  and 1 granddaughter.  

Tonya has been an Elected Official of Nebraska since 2014. 

When she lived in Minneapolis she performed at C.A.S.T  Theatres under “Charters”, Director in “ The Birthday Party” by Harold Pinter,  (Theater of The Absurd) where she played  “Meg Boyles” wife of Petey, she also ran sound and lighting in the play “ ‘night, Mother” by Marsha Norman.  

At The Shelterbelt Theatre Tonya performed in two roles in a heart-rending play called “ We Don’t Serve Mexicans” by Don Nguyen, NYC Playwright, she played a Jamaican Cab Driver and a Southern Belle Cemetery Attendant.

Recent performances include:    The African Fashion Week Show in Omaha 2025  where she performed as the Djembe Drummer from Africa accompanying  Jewel Rogers in her beautiful African Poem called “Sika”.  

 The Rose Theatre in “ Ode to Toy” by Jackie Kappes and as the Djembe Drummer from Africa in the musical “Giraffes Can’t Dance” by Gloria Bond Clunie and Directed by Denise Chapman.

Tonya played “Wanda” in the play “Greater Illinois” by Steven Stafford at the Great Plains Theatre Commons ( GPTC) New Play Conference 2022.
